During my recent trip in the USA I had the great opportunity to buy a Samsung Cromebook on Amazon at a really cheap price and only eight dollars for shipment.

Since the Samsung Chromebook is not locked down in any way, you can easily install Ubuntu on the laptop and create test environments to see how well that claim holds up and that’s exactly what I did following instructions by Chris Hoffman’s blog How to Install Ubuntu Linux on Your Chromebook with Crouton
Because I have several email accounts and I need to use Linux I installed Ubuntu Crouton, and is really amazing to switch back and forth between Chrome OS and my Ubuntu linux desktop environment with a simple Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Back and Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Forward (on the Samsung Series 3 Chromebook)
By the way, the main thing I noticed after a couple of days using it is that I have been Chrome addicted and I switched on every PC I use from Mozilla Firefox to the Google’s browser Chrome because I found it more practical for a ‘cloud mode’ use.
Update 4/Sept: I tried inserting my Vodafone 3G USB device and suprisingly it worked at the first try! I definitely love this Chromebook!
